Introducing Samuel Nwachukwu, otherwise known as CalledOut Music.
Samuel, 24, is a Christian producer, singer/songwriter & multi-instrumentalist from Hampshire, England. Over the last three years, Samuel under the name of CalledOut has produced, written and sang some amazing songs. His music reflects his walk with Christ which many can relate to. His music is honest and pure. On the 24th Nov 2018, CalledOut released his debut album entitled ‘In Due Time (Genesis)‘. Which has songs that will make you dance and ones which will make you sit and reflect on life. I believe the song that rocketed CalledOut into the world was his song ‘My Prayer’ which was released in 2017 and now sits on 3 million+ views on Youtube.
He is constantly delivering hits after hits and with his newest release ‘Row’ he doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. His latest single gives you Labrinth – Express Yourself meets Samm Henshaw – Church vibes, and we are so here for it.
We were privileged to ask Samuel a few questions about his journey:
1. Tell us something we wouldn’t know about you?
I’m a homebody. That’s someone who prefers pleasures and activities that centre around the home. I only leave my house when I HAVE to be somewhere.
2. Why the name CalledOut?
It started officially on the 18th of April 2016. This was the day I first released music under this pseudonym. But the mind behind CalledOut began months before that during the period I was baptised. 1 Peter 2:9, a verse which I had read countless times before suddenly came alive to me.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9
3. What made you decide to take music seriously as a career?
The love of music and my passion to reach souls. I figured that if Jesus could save me, then I’ll be willing to be used to reach as many people as I can. Also, there aren’t too many expressive Christian artists at the moment. People are either boxed into ‘Gospel’ or ‘CCM’ – I feel like I create whatever sound/genre I want and it gives me joy to be able to experiment.
4. What has been the hardest part of your journey as CalledOut Music and what has been the best part?
Best part – Travelling the world and getting to fellowship with people by far.
Hardest part? setting time and making room for God. My perspective is that I NEED to stay focused to be alive. Yes having a relationship with God is not just great it’s vital to stay sane in the world today – To stand out, To show love, to be all God has called you to be, we have to remain focused on God.
5. What is your favourite song you have created so far and favourite song to perform?
I don’t have any favourites, they all bless me differently but ‘Last Breath’ from my ‘In Due Time’ album always pops of live, regardless of where we are.
6. What has been your biggest achievement this year?
Going on an Africa tour. Lagos, Nairobi and Jo’burg. It was the most amazing 2 weeks of my life.
7. What is next for CalledOut Music (tour to Australia?)?
God willing someday. I’ve stopped putting a cap on what God can do and how quickly He can do things. But I’ll be releasing lots of cool music over the coming years.
8. What do you want people to receive or gain from listening to your music?
Ultimately to make a decision with their lives to follow Jesus. That’s always been the goal and it’ll bring me great joy knowing that people are encountering our saviour through my music.
