There are no wasted moments
No aimless steps
The wanderings in the wilderness
Around
Around
Around
For years they go on
No end in sight
Turmoil and pain
Our only companions
Hopelessness
Despair
Ants
On their journey
Across the world
With no map
No stars to guide them
But I’ve found
That our footsteps
Leave imprints
In the sand
This is my map
To where I have come
Not where I am going
That is yet unknown
The ants have their journeys
I have mine
My footprints take me
To another world
A world unknown
Wonderful
Beautiful
Quiet
Serene
A land of flowing rivers in the desert
Of lush green foliage
Of joy
My footsteps fall
In the path You lead
That path is filled
With twists
And turns
Sharp precipices
And a thin, strong cord
This path feels
So filled with many detours
With hairpin bends
And inexplicable side-adventures
Sometimes the breeze is soft
And gentle on my skin
The sun shining
Sometimes dim
The fog is thick
And close
And cold
Where is that cord
That I must hold?
I grope
I grasp
I am secure
Still, I wander on
My steps unsteady
My mind unsure
The breeze picks up
It fills my sails
It gusts and blows
A full gale now
The waves crash against the bow
Again at last the wind subsides
We find safe harbour
In the isle
There is a calm
A quiet
A peace
A moment now
To find release
But soon again,
I hear that calm
I hear that call
Saying, “Child,
“Surrender all”
I breathe deep in
And sigh it out
The journey continues
And once again
I step out.
