Lifelines,

Friends waiting to be called,

Expecting to help at any given moment.

Right when you slip up

Something, someone to catch you.

You stumble each day trying to avoid the call.

Trying to get along without any help.

But.

What if we spend our whole life walking a line?

To reach our goals and dreams.

We all walk the line of life aching.

Striving not to fall back to the hard ground again.

Longing to get to the other side,

To achieve something.

As we step out of our comfort zone,

Our safe place.

We wobble, shaking so fiercely

That we fight to hold on.

And when we start to get everything under control again,

A new struggle arises and the wobbles,

The shakes return.

Only fiercer this time,

Vibrating the line.

So much so, we slip.

Off the line.

Losing sight of our goal.

And retreat back to our safe place,

Only looking out long enough to see our goal cloud over.

Once again,

We are knocked back by our fears,

Our mountains that shake us so fiercely.

Making us fall again and again.

Until finally we push through,

And we reach the other side of our line.

Our goal complete.

Building us stronger and stronger with each line,

With each journey we build new courage to try again,

A nonstop sensation propelling us to reach the other side.

We spend our whole lives fighting to reach a new achievement.

Striving to get somewhere.

Once we get there

It isn’t the end.

Strapping up a new line to another goal

We continue.

On and on,

Each day walking, fighting, falling, moving.

Following our own life-lines.

Some longer, some easier than others.

The trick is not to give up,

No matter how many times you fall,

You can still reach the other side,

If you can just find the courage to try again.
