wandering through the
aftermath.
charred and broken
all glimpses of
colour lost,
turned to
ashes.
silence.
what once was.
full of life
has been
silenced.
voices
crumbled and swept
away.
the sky is
lined with posts.
trunks that
continue to
stretch upward,
to the light.

The light,
flooding into the darkest
places.
illuminating
the ashes.
what once was
and will be
again.

watching as the light
seeps into
the cracks.
bringing forth
green sprouts.
a small measure
of life.
from the tiny,
sprouts vines,
leaves, bushes.
turning the ashes
back to colour.
back to life.
with the colour
comes the songs,
voices and noise.
turning the silence
into a joy-filled
celebration.
for slowly
the life that
was dormant,
is revived
from deep within
the ashes
a new world
is born.
