Darling one,
When they drew this triangle:
You and them at the bottom
and God at the top
Did you ever notice you were positioned as though there was a distance between you and God?
The rhetoric of “journey with someone that is moving closer towards God as you move close to Him, so that you move closer together” was a common phrase.
And a sincere one.
Though not entirely true.
Hear me carefully: you are not far from God, nor is He far from you.
There’s no separation. No distance.
You are home.
You are in Him.
And He in you.
I want you to know that the connection you’re in search of
Was accomplished at the cross.
In His death, so you died.
In His new life, so you live.
In Christ, so you are.
The real diagram looks different, dear one:
It’s a circle labelled “Christ”
Where your name now remains.
And in that circle, the ones He holds close to Himself
Not far at all.
All three, are intimately and infinitely close.
Unified.
One.
This is what He has for you, darling one.
