Slow fade
The words that lingered
Whilst I pondered my heart
And battled with my mind
Deep in my soul
I knew
I was the one
The only one
Who had the final say
All that has been offered
His blood shed
His grace given
His mercy overflowing
He is risen
And yet with hands wide open
I struggle to understand
That the chains have been broken
That I’m free
Though there have been no physical chains
The experiences formed an illusion
Of a prison
I couldn’t escape
I too tied myself down
With my own mistakes
I misunderstood my worth
And took for granted Your love
And yet now I stand clean
Because I was seen
By a God like You
Learning how to fully walk in freedom
You’ve made the path straight
Set my course
And simply ask me to amend my sails
The journey is no longer a solo one
For a time it needed to be
And yet now you’ve surrounded me
With a beautiful community
I never realised it would take
So much courage
To realign my path with yours
That I even had the choice
Yet now I walk with eyes wide open
To the path set before me
The path I have chosen
So there will no longer be
A slow fade
