Introducing, Haynza.

He is an Adventist youth, 18, based in Queensland who not only delivers the message of Jesus through music, but is also the co-founder of DÉMURCH clothing line.

We had the privilage of asking him a few questions:

  1. When did you start singing?

I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember!

  1. Can you play any instrument other than your voice?

The two instruments I can play are the guitar and the piano.

  1. Who are your musical influences?

Growing up, I was constantly surrounded by a lot of gospel music. Bands such as Gaither, the Heritage Singers and the Sapphire Singers (a singing group my parents managed when I was younger) will always be my greatest musical influences. But as for what’s currently on repeat, I like Allie Paige, Hillsong, Ecclesia and for KING & COUNTRY.

  1. What does your writing process look like?

My writing process varies with every song I write. Sometimes I’ll start with a simple hum and record it on my phone, and other times a certain lyric comes to mind. I wish I could tell you my exact writing process, but it’s all over the place! Sometimes I start with the melody, sometimes I start with the chords, and sometimes I start with the beat.

  1. What inspired you to write this particular song?

The story behind how I wrote ‘Lost In Your Light’ is a crazy one. It’s about me surrendering my entire life to Christ, and what’s crazy about it is that I wrote it way before I ended up doing so. It’s actually a prophesy come fulfilled, and I have a video on my YouTube channel where I go into more detail about it. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/NbqPLedyfJU

  1. What message do you ultimately want to deliver to your listeners?

The message I ultimately want to give to my listeners is a message of hope. Life is strange, and we die. I know, I know – it’s a lot more complex than that, and there are many other ways to put it in a less morbid light, but it’s true. So many people go through this life oblivious to the great war going on between good and evil – God and the devil – which is why I want to use my music to get people thinking about the deeper questions in life, and then lead them to the one who has all the answers: Jesus.

  1. One piece of advice you would like to give the youth as we enter this new year?

My advice to my fellow young people as we enter into this new year is to seek the Lord! Like, really seek Him. Pray, read your Bible, fast, get involved with your church. Cuz newsflash, Jesus is coming soon! Redemption is closer than it ever has been. So let’s put aside the fleeting desires of our deceptive youth, and instead, look to Jesus who has offered us much more than this world ever could.
