I imagine the gentle cooing of the morning birds before the crow of the rooster
at the third denial.
I imagine the briefest moment of peace before being awoken by the fear of what the
day will bring.
I imagine the crown of thorns on the head of my King as I sit here waiting for
a crown of jewels I do not deserve.
I imagine the first sign of daylight before it disappears with the ‘King of the
Jews.’
I imagine the darkness of night before the darkness overtakes the day in a show of
defiance.
I imagine the breaking of hearts before he broke the chains of death and sin.
I imagine the break of dawn before the breaking of sin as my Saviour rose again.
I imagine the fear of the grave before victory was won for me.
I imagine the reign of sin before the power of Jesus’ name was revealed.
I imagine that this is only the beginning of my life as he says that ‘It is done.’
I imagine the day when I can worship those nail-pierced hands that saved me.
I imagine no more.
I know that I am a child of the risen King and that
He has overcome.
