In the midst of it.
Rain dripping off the roof.
Birds singing in the yard.
Thoughts racing to and fro.
Minutes ticking into hours.
In the midst of it.
Words fading into
distant memories,
voices falling into echoes.
Stillness settling in,
in the midst of it,
arms seem to enfold
in the aching,
in the stillness.
Holding,
in the midst of it.
When the pain
is too much to
speak.
With tears rolling,
flooding.
The path is blurry,
lost in the mist.
Even still
in the midst of it
You are.
Your presence
holding true.
Sitting,
waiting,
being with us.
In the midst of it,
of the mess
that seems to be
overwhelming,
flooding,
drowning.
In the midst of it
You hold on,
You quiet the fears,
You are still here
in the midst of it
all.
