Days into the new year,
A completely new atmosphere.
Bushfires have burnt homes and the land,
Australia pulls together to lend a hand.
Firefighters and volunteers fight,
Jesus provides the light.
Thanks to Jesus’ body being laid,
We see another decade.
We don’t know what to expect,
Yet we want to have an effect.
We have certain goals,
Though only so much is in our control.
We build dreams for ourselves,
Unsure of what exactly 2020 involves.
Perhaps you’re young and in school,
Where being accepted means being cool.
Or working towards your graduation,
To get a dream job in that profession.
Maybe you’re qualified and working permanently,
Hoping to start a family.
Watching your kids grow,
The world tries to maintain the status quo.
Whatever we plan for our future,
God’s with us for the adventure.
The life we build and work towards,
Is nothing compared to God’s rewards.
He has our lives planned out,
To bring happiness in and keep disappointment out.
As you start this year,
Getting into gear.
May 2020 be a blessing to you,
As you move away from warming the pew.
Pray, lead and guide,
Continuously giving God your mind.
Make a name for yourself,
While loving your neighbour as yourself.
Use us as your vessel,
Help us seek your counsel.
We give you, Jesus Almighty,
The year Twenty Twenty.
