It grips me,
Shaking me right to the core.
Blocking out everything
Else so I can only
Focus on IT.
The world seems to be
Going by in a blur.
While I freeze, hovering.
Waiting. Hoping the
moment will pass.
All I can see is the
Edge and what appears
To be a misty, dingy
Unknown.
The thumping in my ears
Is only getting louder,
The voices deafening,
All jumbled together I
Can barely separate
Them.
Grappling with them
My mind spins.
Then just when I
Think I’m going mad
And can’t take it anymore.
A still small voice
Seems to drown out
All the noise,
Whispering
‘Follow me’.
Over and over again.
As I look around
Things begin to clear,
Not everything
Just some,
Then I realise
It’s a path
Opening up ahead of me.
When I look down,
The first step appears
To be the hardest,
Furthest, slowly slipping
Out of reach as,
All the other voices
Invade into the
Invitation.
Straining to see
With the mist closing in,
I hear a shout,
‘JUMP’.
In that moment
My feet leave
The firm, comfortable
Earth.
Leaping into the
Unknown.
My mind is at
Peace,
My heart thumping
Wildly in my
Chest, is oddly
Quiet.
With eyes up
I pursue the path
Ahead.
With every step it becomes
More defined.
The only thing I
Hear is a
Resonating
Humming sound,
Echoing
from deep within.
