This poem is about the relationship between the sky and the land at sunset.
Smudging my edges that I had drawn
was a finger
Long and powerful.
Black mixed with blue and exported
Orange, yellow, red
What a confusion.
I thought we were
Clear-cut, you and I
But now as I watch
I disintegrate.
Slipping from my skin
Are all the colours I had thought beautified me
Made people pull to the side of the road
Leap out of open car doors
And into each other’s arms.
Ah, the emotion that I feel
Dark
It is all I can see now.
Smut from my skin
I fade.
I have no control and you
Overwhelm me until
You and I, Mr Sky, are nothing
But one.
