Enclosed.
Waiting.
Staring up into
the emptiness
reaching for a glimpse
of light.
Then the speckles
filtering in become
brighter and brighter.
Squinting,
stretching your limbs
into the fresh
clear air.
Gazing out at
the wide world
full of new
possibilities.
All the time
spent waiting,
wondering when
the new growth
would begin.
Was giving
your roots
the time
to grow,
deep within
the earth.
With roots
spread out,
the waiting
has produced
a foundation
strong,
ready to withstand
the wind and rain.
Although the
waiting was cold
and damp,
new growth has
sprouted forth.
Absorbing the
sunlight and all that
comes with it.
Although small at
first, you grow
day by day,
leaf by leaf,
supported by your
patience and
guided toward
the brightness
of hope.
